Peacock Crazy Quilt
I love Peacocks! Their colors are just so jewel like. So..of course I had to make a crazy quilt with a Peacock theme. This is the first block I made. The center was made by a quilting friend (Thanks Betty Louise) on her embroidery machine.
Second Block I tried out some grapes on this one plus a beaded border around a peacock picture printed on silk. I like the X border with the beads on the left. The center is another design made by Betty Louise.
Third Block I used a small panel with a preprinted peacock and embellished it with beads, embroidery, and some crochet flowers. Tried out some new stitches and did a paisley.
Fourth Block
On this block I decided to use a small doiley I had made for another project, added some beads and spangles. Tried out some really cool looking stitches from Carole Samples book "Treasury of Crazy Quilt Stitches".
Fifth Block
On this block I put my initials, added a peacock motif got on ebay and then did some heavy duty silk ribbon embroidery. I like the one with the turquoise ribbon woven through it. Also my first attempt at some trees with a fly stitch, they are ok. They do represent my love for trees though. Have planted 49 at our farm and will plant more I'm sure.
Sixth Block
Another peacock motif got on eBay. Had fun with this one. Did a sun with a mirror in the center. A button cluster, another cluster of those neat plastic flower beads, those are so handy. Also used a metal piece I bought to make earrings years ago and never got around to it. Some more of those stitches from Ms. Samples book.
Seventh Block
This is a block that was added to by other members of the CQ for Newbies group. Will have to look up who all added to it as has been a while but they did a fantastic job! I put the back of the block together and added the beaded peacock. The rest was all added by the members. Love the feathers.
Eighth Block
One of my favorites, did two different butterflies, one cross stitch and the other with beads. The gold motif was just too cool not to use somewhere. Had the little peacock charm so found a design to add it to on the pink patch. Tried some more of those great stitches out of Ms. Samples book.
Ninth Block
This block was also a round robin block added to by the CQ for Newbies members. Georgeous block. Love the orange ribbon that pulls the color out of the peacock fabric. The peacock on the top right is another embroidery done by Betty Louis and I cut it out of the fabric and folded under a hem and appliqued it onto the block. Love the work done on this one, kind of more delicate.
Tenth Block
This is the block I am working on now. Found the neat metal discs at Hancock's and added flowers and beads to them to surround my peacock. Added a hand dyed heart, embroidered a spiderweb and the curlique design. Still working on some more embroidered seams.
This is a crazy quilt pillow top I made. Tried lots of different things on it. The roses in the center are all done in seed beads.
